Up for Auction: 1965 Ford Mustang/Shelby GT350 Tribute – Replica
This stunning 1965 Ford Mustang has been meticulously transformed into a Shelby GT350 tribute, setting it apart from the majority of replicas on the market. Every detail of this car has been carefully crafted, using high-quality parts to achieve a faithful homage to the original GT350.
Exterior
The car features the correct fiberglass hood with hood pins and is painted in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue racing stripes, matching the original Shelby colors. The paintwork is beautiful and period-appropriate, with a finish that mirrors the original style. All exterior components have been restored or replaced, including a new front windshield with a Car Lite stamp. The side glass is original, also with Car Lite stamps, while the rear glass is a new replacement with the same authenticity. Completing the look are genuine Shelby wheels.
Interior
The interior is entirely brand new, featuring correct black upholstery with 3-inch competition seat belts and a period-accurate roll cage. A spare tire is mounted in the rear, consistent with the Shelby GT350’s design. Authentic Shelby components, including the steering wheel and dash pod gauge cluster, enhance the interior’s authenticity. An AM/FM stereo with a CD player is discreetly located inside the glove box. Everything inside works flawlessly.
Engine and Drivetrain
Under the hood, the engine bay has been completely restored and detailed, featuring correct Hi-Po air cleaner, cast aluminum Cobra valve covers, and an oil pan. The engine, built and dyno-tested by Motor City Motor Sports, replicates the specifications of the original Shelby GT350, including solid lifters, stainless steel roller rockers, a Hi-Po camshaft, and Windsor Junior heads. It produces 318 horsepower at the rear wheels, similar to the original GT350. The powertrain includes a 4-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch rear end. Correct Tri-Y headers and side-exit exhausts add to the Shelby performance and sound.
Undercarriage and Suspension
The undercarriage was stripped, cleaned, and painted black, with upgraded suspension for improved handling. Front disc brakes ensure confident stopping power, making this car as functional as it is beautiful.
Summary
Built to be driven and enjoyed, this tribute car combines vintage style with modern reliability. If you’ve been dreaming of owning a 1965 Shelby GT350 but prefer an affordable, high-quality replica, this car is the perfect choice. It runs, drives, and sounds incredible—a true head-turner for any enthusiast or collector.
