This 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS is a striking combination of vintage muscle and modern performance upgrades. Owned by the seller for over 22 years, the car has undergone extensive refurbishment and modifications, including a repaint in vibrant yellow and the installation of a powerful 377ci V8 engine mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual gearbox.
Exterior:
The current yellow paint was applied 17 years ago, offering a bold appearance. A fiberglass hood adds a performance-oriented touch, and rally wheels with flat-disc center caps are paired with 15″ BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. A fuel cell has been installed in the trunk, and the original gas tank is included. Some finish imperfections, including roof bubbles, are noted.
Interior:
The black vinyl interior features bucket seats with vintage motorsport-style lap belts, nylon loop carpeting, and an SS console. A 3-spoke steering wheel complements the classic design, while auxiliary gauges and a tachometer enhance functionality. The inoperative horizontal-sweep speedometer and disconnected odometer reflect the car’s vintage character.
Engine and Performance:
The heart of this Nova is a robust 377ci V8 built from a GM 400ci small block. It includes a 350ci steel crankshaft, Dart cast cylinder heads, ARP head bolts, a Comp Cams 246 camshaft, and roller rockers. Induction features a Holley 4150 carburetor with Barry Grant components atop an Edelbrock intake, fed by an electric fuel pump. Wheel well headers and an Accel HEI distributor round out the performance upgrades.
Chassis and Suspension:
This Nova features a Ford 9” Trac Lock differential with 3.70:1 gears, with a spare set of 4.10:1 gears included. The braking system has been upgraded to a dual-circuit setup with 4-wheel disc brakes. Front and rear sway bars improve handling, ensuring a confident driving experience.
Additional Features:
The car includes receipts for parts and engine machine work, reflecting the quality of the build. This Nova delivers an exhilarating blend of classic style and modern performance, making it a standout option for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
With over two decades of ownership and meticulous care, this 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS offers a unique opportunity to own a well-sorted muscle car with exceptional performance capabilities.
