Details: This GTO has been verified as a numbers-matching 389 Tri-Power, 4-speed model. It was built in Pontiac, Michigan, and sold new in Oshawa, Ontario. All PHS documents are included to verify its authenticity. As documented, the GTO coupe models had the lowest production figures in 1966, with only approximately 10% of all GTOs built being the coupe body style.
Condition: This GTO is in amazing condition. The paint and bodywork are excellent, with a striking black painted exterior over a black bucket seat interior. The floors, trunk, quarters, and rockers all show no signs of wear or rust issues. It is believed that the panels are factory original.
Mechanical: Under the hood, the original 389ci V8 engine is correct with the ‘WS’ Tri-Power markings, along with the 4-speed manual transmission. The car features correct intake and exhaust manifolds, and the unique manual carb linkage for the 4-speed cars. The power runs through a very nice shifting, original 4-speed transmission back to the correct 4:10 gears out back.
Interior: The interior is in great condition, with working factory gauges. A rare option on this model is the factory correct “651” front aluminum drum brake option.
Summary: This beautifully restored 1966 Pontiac GTO is a rare find, combining authenticity with performance. With its striking looks, excellent condition, and documented history, it is a must-see for any collector or enthusiast seeking a true muscle car icon.
