Engine & Performance
At the heart of this Monte Carlo is a rebuilt 350ci V8 engine, featuring a .030” overbore, a cut crankshaft, a mild camshaft, and Edelbrock intake manifold coupled with a Holley 600cfm carburetor. This powerplant is mated to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission and drives the rear wheels via the factory 10-bolt Positraction rear end. The engine was rebuilt in 2010 and the work includes the installation of new pumps, camshaft, lifters, and timing chain, as well as rebuilt factory open-chamber cylinder heads. The A/C system has been converted to R134a, although the seller notes the air conditioning does not blow as cold as expected.
Body & Exterior
The Monte Carlo was repainted in 2003 with a high-quality Flame Orange finish at King Collision Center in Braintree, Massachusetts. This eye-catching paintwork is complemented by a black vinyl top and is in good condition, with minor signs of age visible. The polished Cragar S/S 15” alloy wheels are fitted with staggered-width BFGoodrich tires, enhancing the car’s classic muscle car stance.
Suspension & Brakes
The car features updated suspension components, including new front upper and lower control arms that have been powder-coated, with new ball joints and bushings installed. The rear end features a Leed rear disc-brake conversion, including a new proportioning valve, flex hoses, and replacements for the master cylinder and vacuum booster.
Interior
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black cloth, featuring woodgrain accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. Factory features include power windows, a remote driver-side exterior mirror, and a push-button AM/FM radio, with a Pioneer CD player added under the dash. The interior shows well, with the exception of some minor issues, such as slow operation of the left-side rear quarter window, and an inoperative clock, factory radio, and cigarette lighter.
Service History & Documentation
This Monte Carlo is being offered with its original window sticker, factory Protect-O-Plate, and a binder of service records, including documentation of its restoration and mechanical upgrades. The original engine block and heads are included with the sale, adding value for collectors.
Summary
This 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a striking classic muscle car, boasting a rebuilt 350ci V8, upgraded suspension and brakes, and a vibrant Flame Orange exterior. The car is in solid condition, with a well-preserved interior and numerous upgrades that enhance both performance and comfort. The sale includes the original engine, factory books, service records, and a binder of documentation, making this Monte Carlo a complete package for any classic car enthusiast.
